General

DuoPly EPDM Primer is designed for one step cleaning and priming of DuoPly EPDM surfaces prior to the application of Pre-Appled Seam Tape (PST), 225mm PS Elastoform Flashing tape, 150mm PS Cover Strip and all other pressure sensitive accessories.

Features & Benefits

  • One step cleaner and primer used in conjunction with all Pressure Sensitive (PS) products
  • Coverage rates of up to 47.5 linear metres per litre of DuoPly EPDM Primer
  • Available in 0.5 litre & 1 litre bottles

Installation

Mixing

Mix/shake thoroughly until all settled sediment are dispersed and the primer is uniform in colour. If product has a jelly like consistency do not use.

1. Remove any dirt and excess dust from the splice by wiping with a clean rag. If necessary, clean the splice area thoroughly with Weathered Membrane Cleaner. This is essential for membrane that has been exposed for a number of weeks. Note: Permeation resistant gloves are recommended.

2. Application of DuoPly EPDM Primer: Brush or roller (short pile roller) apply the primer to the area to be coated. The properly primed area will be free of streaks, globules or puddles.

Note: The excessive use of DuoPly EPDM Primer will not significantly enhance the adhesion of the Pressure Sensitive (PS) products to the EPDM membrane or other surfaces. Use only the necessary amount to obtain 100% coverage of the area where the PS tape or accessory will be used.

3. Allow the DuoPly EPDM Primer to dry until it does not transfer top a dry finger. Installation of the DuoPly PS tape or accessory as soon as the primer cures off minimises potential dust contamination and promotes adhesion in colder weather.

4. Complete the PS detail as specified in DuoPly specifications and/or details.

*Review current DuoPly specifications and details for specific application requirements.

Precautions

1. This product is FLAMMABLE. Precautions must be taken to keep the DuoPly EPDM Primer away from heat, flame and sparks during storage and use.

2. Keep container closed when not in use. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

3. Avoid breathing vapours. Use with adequate ventilation. If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, perform artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a doctor immediately. During application, efforts must be made to prevent fumes from entering the building via air ventilation ducts. Do not place open containers or mix adhesive near fresh air intake units. When possible shut down or seal off the closest unit.

4. If swallowed, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Call a doctor immediately.

5. Permeation resistant gloves must be worn to prevent hands from staining and irritating ingredients.

6. Thoroughly mix this product until all settled pigment is blended into the solution. Solids suspended in DuoPly EPDM Primer tend to settle; mix the Primer during use. Use DuoPly EPDM Primer at full strength. Do not thin, thinning will affect performance.

7. DuoPly EPDM Primer may cause staining of light coloured surfaces.

8. Storage in excess of 32°C may affect product shelf life. Expected bottled shelf life of 2 months.

9. Keep container tightly closed when not in use and protect from moisture contamination. Once exposed top air DuoPly EPDM Primer begins to cure and may gel within days.

10. Due to solvent flash off, condensation may form on freshly applied DuoPly EPDM Primer when the ambient temperature is near dew point. If condensation occurs, the application of primer must be discontinued (proper adhesion will not be obtained). Allow the surface to dry and apply a thin freshener coat of DuoPly Primer to the previously primed surface when conditions allow.

11. Review the DuoPly EPDM Primer Material Safety Data sheet for complete safety information prior to use.

12. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
